Quote the metres you have measured, and name the prep. Invoice the same metres when the grout is in, and add trims only if you supplied them. A wet room needs the tanking on the paper before any tile price.
Tick Add VAT when the metre rate, the adhesive and the trims are net and you are VAT registered. The PDF adds 20% on top. Leave it off if you are not registered, or if the rate you typed is already the gross price per metre. Your document is not stored.

What to include on a quote for UK tilers
A bare square-metre rate hides the edges. These lines are a floor plus a wet-room wall.
- Floor tiles, supply and fix, per square metre. The metres, with wastage allowed in the quantity.
- Tank the shower walls before tiling. The prep, not included in the tile rate unless you say so.
- Trims and niche. Named, because a straight lay does not include them.

- How do I add VAT to a square-metre tile rate?
- Type the net rate per metre and tick Add VAT if you are registered. The PDF adds 20% on top of the lines. If your advertised metre rate already includes VAT, leave the box off.
- Is a tile price per metre a quote or an estimate?
- It is a quote when the metres, the layout and the prep are known. It is an estimate when the tanking, the niche or a herringbone layout is still undecided. Put those on the lines once they are agreed.
- Who supplies the adhesive and grout?
- Whoever you write down. If they are yours, add them. If they are theirs, say so in the description so a large-format tile’s wastage and adhesive are not a surprise.
